William "Earl" Outlaw Sr.

William "Earl" Outlaw GILBERT -Our sweet daddy, William "Earl" Outlaw, Sr. went to be with Jesus on Sunday evening, July 23, 2017 after a short illness. He was born on June 2, 1927 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late George Earl and Letha Crouch Outlaw. He was raised in South Congaree and had lived in the Pond Branch community for the past 30 years. Daddy's passion in life was to sing gospel music. He began his singing career as a young adult directing the music at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church. He formed several gospel trios, and then in the 1960s, he sang with the Men of Melody, a Southern Gospel quartet singing four-part harmony. The highlight of his music life was to lead a group of friends from the Pond Branch Community of Lexington County in building the Midland Gospel Singing Center on Martin Smith Road where gospel singings are held the first Saturday night of each month. Crowds of over 500 gospel music lovers from across the Southeast gather to hear the sweet sounds of Southern Gospel.
